| In 2006 global production of steel and iron set a new highest record. As for crude steel, the global production was 1.22 billion ton, up 9% over the previous year, 100.8 million ton more. As a part, Asia produced 647.54 million ton, up 12.9%, 73.99 million ton more, accounting for 53.19% of the world crude steel production. |
